Re: Seashells by the Seashore 2014

(Want to paint or buy a seashell? Information for the public is here.)

The Sechelt Downtown Business Association (SDBA) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Seashells by the Seashore Festival, Art Display and Auction, this year in conjunction with the Octoberfest Event, Saturday, October 4, 2014.  This is a great participation event for all members, and the entire community, no matter where you are situated.

Gibsons Building Supplies has prepared and donated seashell shapes (16”x16”) in plywood.  These are available for purchase for $15., or 2 for $25. at Artworks Gallery on Cowrie Street.  Any business can sponsor an artist, and display the finished artwork.  Note that proceeds from the sale of the seashells will be used to promote and market Sechelt’s Seaside Village.

Objective – when a business or interested person has purchased seashells (no minimum number), they invite an artist or creative person to decorate the sponsored seashell/s.

Completed seashells must be decorated and returned to the sponsoring business by Monday, September 22, 2014, and can be displayed in your business until Wednesday, October 1, 2014.  On or before Wednesday, October 1, 2014, all decorated seashells must be delivered to Artworks Gallery where they will be prepared for the grand auction.  All the seashells will be displayed in a central location until the grand Seashell Auction being held during Octoberfest on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

Anyone may purchase or decorate a seashell, and anyone may bid for a seashell at the auction on Saturday, October 4, 2014, in downtown Sechelt.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to promote and market Sechelt’s Seaside village.
